Builder Grade To Bespoke

Perched above a stunning mountain lake, this home offered exceptional views but lacked the character and functionality the homeowners envisioned. The original kitchen featured Home Depot cabinetry, brown toned granite, and a peninsula that restricted circulation and interrupted the connection between the kitchen and dining area. The goal was to create a more refined and cohesive space that celebrated the home's setting while supporting everyday living.

The design centered on opening the floor plan and improving flow without sacrificing the warmth of the existing gathering areas. The peninsula was removed and replaced with a generously sized island featuring tapered legs and a built in dog feeding station. A larger window above the sink brings additional natural light into the space, while a dedicated coffee station near the fireplace creates a secondary destination within the kitchen. The fireplace was thoughtfully updated to better integrate with the new design, all while preserving its role as a cozy focal point overlooking the lake.

Custom cabinetry finished in Benjamin Moore Oil Cloth anchors the space and is paired with matte Taj Mahal countertops, oil rubbed bronze hardware, and Hubbardton Forge lighting. A handcrafted weathered copper hood provides a striking focal point, while nature inspired cabinet knobs add a subtle nod to the surrounding landscape. The result is a warm and inviting kitchen that feels both elevated and timeless, transforming a once ordinary builder grade space into the heart of the home.
